Capital Power partnered with Myshak Warehouse to manage the unloading, outdoor storage, and loading of large electrical transformers to support a long term infrastructure project. The scope of work included unloading the transformers upon arrival, placing them in a secure outdoor storage area, and reloading them for transport when required. Given the size, weight, and sensitivity of the equipment, the project required precise handling, careful planning, effective storage methods, and a high level of operational control.

From the outset, the project presented unique challenges and required a tailored approach to ensure safe delivery and long term outdoor storage. Myshak Crane & Rigging Ltd. (MCR) supported the warehouse by supplying and operating a 500 ton Liebherr LTM 1400 crane, which was used to carefully place each transformer into its designated storage location. Due to their top heavy design, the transformers required customized bracing and securement to remain stable and protected throughout the handling process and during the full term of the storage agreement.

To meet this challenge, Myshak Warehouse implemented a custom solution involving engineered matting and specialized bracing to distribute weight evenly and prevent shifting or settlement over time. These measures not only supported the immediate safety of the equipment during placement but provided the necessary support to maintain structural integrity and safety over the duration of the storage period. Each transformer was precisely placed using the crane and secured in a manner that allowed for both stability and long term reliability.

Throughout the project, Myshak’s experienced warehouse crews maintained a strong focus on safety and clear communication with Capital Power. Every phase, from unloading to secure storage placement, and loading the transformers for shipment to site was carried out with professionalism and attention to detail, meeting all expectations for quality, timing, and risk mitigation.

By developing a storage first solution that addressed the unique physical requirements of the transformers, Myshak Warehouse delivered a dependable and safe environment for these critical assets. This project demonstrates the value of partnering with a storage provider equipped to manage oversized, high value equipment with care, expertise, and long term security in mind.
