Project Overview
TC Energy engaged Myshak Warehouse to provide dedicated material storage and logistical support for the Coastal GasLink project, a 600-kilometre high-pressure natural gas pipeline critical to Canada’s energy infrastructure. The initial project scope of work involved the receipt, storage, and preservation of critical fabrication materials required for the construction of meter, compressor, and valve stations. This began with an original allocation of 10,000 square feet of indoor storage space and three acres of outdoor laydown area. As the project progressed and the material volume increased, storage capacity requirements expanded significantly to 30,000 square feet indoors and nine acres outdoors.
Throughout the project, Myshak Warehouse supplied a fully integrated suite of services including warehousing, material preservation and maintenance, and transportation. The secure and organized handling of all materials was carried out by an experienced team, and supported by a robust fleet of specialized equipment, including Tadano RT 160 ton cranes, multiple loaders and forklifts, and transport trucks capable of transporting both legal and oversized loads. All materials were managed with strict compliance to project specifications and delivery timelines, ensuring material remained ready for field deployment at any time.
The project encountered two significant challenges: The first being the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic and the second involved the receipt of materials that, upon inspection, required further review to ensure compliance with shipping documents, receiving reports, and project specifications. In response to COVID-19, Myshak implemented comprehensive safety measures, including contact free shipping and receiving protocols, to maintain operational continuity while also safeguarding personnel. To address the material that required further review, a robust receiving and inspection process was implemented to identify, isolate, and document any discrepancies allowing for a timely resolution, and preventing any disruption to the construction schedule.
By the conclusion of the contract, all materials had been securely stored, properly maintained, preserved, and delivered without issue, demonstrating the critical role of having a trusted and reliable partner in supporting complex projects. The absence of any open OS&D (Overage, Shortage, or Damage) reports at closeout, underscores the effectiveness of the processes established and further demonstrates the consistency and quality of the support provided throughout the project. Myshak Warehouse’s consistent and reliable support played a critical role in avoiding costly schedule delays and cost overruns from a warehousing perspective. TC Energy successfully completed the pipeline with comprehensive material management and logistical services provided by the Myshak Warehouse, maintained seamlessly from project initiation through to final delivery.
