A large portion of commercial construction projects require a crane at some point in the building process. It is crucial that the crane you have on the job site can safely do the job. If you don’t already own the kind of crane you need, renting a crane is an excellent way to get a one that’s just right for the job. Below, discover the jobs a rental crane and trained heavy equipment operator can help you accomplish.

1. Lift Materials

At some point when a building is under construction, the materials that are being used to construct the building need to be moved to the upper floors. The taller the building gets, the harder the process is to move the materials to those upper floors.   Renting a crane to lift the materials is a common way to get things where they are needed. Massive beams, trusses, and sometimes complete wall sections can be moved this way. If you have the materials ready ahead of time, the operator can arrive, set up the crane, and make the lift quickly.   Remember, you may need to have workers in place to help guide the load into position on the building because the crane operator may not be able to see the load once it is over the building.

2. Lift HVAC Equipment

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment sits high on the roof of commercial buildings. Large buildings may have many units on the roof and if an HVAC unit stops working, getting it off the roof is not easy. With a lift like this, the crane may need to have enough reach to lift the HVAC units from the center of the roof.   Removing the HVAC unit from the roof of the building requires a crane, but this kind of lift takes a skilled operator because the HVAC unit can be so far back on the roof that the operator can’t see it from the cab of the crane. Inexpert operators can pose a danger to the building and everyone near the site.   Once the old unit is off the roof, the crane operator will position the new HVAC unit with the crane on the AC flange. Once the new unit is on the roof, the crane can leave the site.

3. Unload Heavy Equipment

Often when setting up a new construction project, the tools and equipment needed on the site are kept in containers and moved to the job site on a truck. One of the easiest ways to deal with those containers is to have a crane on-site to remove the containers from the truck and set them in place on the site.   If you have a crane on the site already, the lifts will only take a few minutes. If you don’t have a crane there already, you can rent one and have it arrive just after the containers arrive on the site.

4. Operate the Crane Safely and Efficientl

When you rent a crane, you don’t just get the machine. The crane rental company will send the machine and the operator to the site to perform your lift. It is vital that the operator has the experience and skill to perform the lift correctly. An unskilled operator can do a lot of damage to the crane, the building, and the material – and that is not good for anyone involved.   At Myshak Group, our operators have the experience to rig and lift your materials or items properly.
